Wrapping up the school year and sending off the last photo orders this week.  Reflecting on my first year photographing a preschool and how much joy it brought me to get to know all these amazing little people.  School photos always were a hard thing for me to want to photograph until I could wrap my brain around how I could bring my style into them.  I remember my first kiddo I put in the seat and the first cheesy smile that came out.  You know…the 4 year old nose scrunched up and eyes half closed and teeth clenched together in the traditional “cheese” pose that most school photos develop.  I always take it…and smile…as it’s pretty iconic. (BTW the first kiddo in the chair was my own 🙂    Then….I talk to them…  Do you have any pets?  Little brothers?  And watch the magic unfold.  Their face changes.  Their eyes focus on me.  Then I get them moving and giggling….then I get my real smile….What’s even better is that I have photographed many of them before with their families, so I know the real smile when it comes out.  Then the smiles on their parent’s faces when they got their photos back was magical.  Then I stayed for recess and photographed them having all kinds of kid fun 🙂 So thankful for this opportunity and grateful for this experience.  Thank you for a perfect year I Know I Can Preschool! Love you all!
