I’d been told by other moms how easy the scheduled c-section was compared to the first one, but didn’t fully believe it until I experienced it myself.  First off, my son Knox decided that 3am was an acceptable time to wake up on the morning Henry was born.  So by 6am when we arrived at the hospital, both Brent and I were already exhausted.  The prep for the surgery was a complete breeze, in fact I slept through some of it.  My doctor said I’d be feeling some pressure and announced “It’s a Boy,”  I felt a huge sigh of relief to know we had another son.  I thought- I’ve done this, I have everything, I can’t wait to watch my boys play and grow up together- in that order.  I loved the surprise and will not find out the sex of our next child either (should we decide to try again.)  Henry got to stay by my side almost the whole time they were finishing my surgery and established skin to skin almost immediately.  I can’t thank my doctor, Bruce Herman, or the nursing and operating staff enough for all their help and support during my time in the hospital.  Knox, 21 months now, was not a big fan of the hospital and didn’t really know what was going on, and didn’t seem to miss us (tear).  He smiled at Henry and screamed with glee to see the toy my mom had brought him (which we kept at the hospital for him to play with until we went home.)  This was clutch, it kept him somewhat occupied while he was there.

Brent took many of these with my Canon DSLR and my point and shoot while in the operating room.  I took the photos of Henry near the end of the post.  I got this idea from pinterest and really didn’t know what to expect, but so glad we did this.  I always tell my newborn clients how magical the hospital photos are and can’t stress this enough.  SOOOO much changes in the few days between the hospital and our newborn session, I love to have this  documented for my clients and now for myself.
